The match is set. In the red corner we have Direct Mail. He’s older but has the advantage of years of experience behind his belt. And in the blue corner we have Internet Marketing – young and quick, does she have the experience to outwit Direct Mail? Who will be victorious in this Marketing Mêlée?
I hate to burst your bubble: but the answer is neither.
It’s tempting to think one of these forms of marketing is the clear winner, but when it comes to connecting with your customers, Direct Mail and Internet Marketing both have advantages. In fact, using both of these methods (especially on the same campaign) can provide your company with the results you’re seeking.

In a recent article on CNN Money, Sandra Blum, author of "Designing Direct Mail that Sells," explains Direct Mail is just as effective and possibly more private than email.
She explains, "I think that people are hedging their bets and turning to e-mail marketing, thinking that it’s cheaper," said Blum. "But the key word is efficacy here. Believe or not, I think there’s a greater feeling of privacy [with direct mail. If consumers] can choose when to pay attention to it, they’re tactile."
