When it Comes to Financial Guidance, Age Matters

It’s funny how great ideas are born. Our team at Sherri May and Company is quite diverse when it comes to age. 95 percent of the time, it’s a real asset. Some of the time, it makes me feel really old.

While working on a project for one of our banking clients awhile back, one of our younger copywriters mentioned she wished her bank had a resource that was specific to her age. A resource that told her things she needed to know about when starting her first real job like how to manage a paycheck and why she should invest in a 401(k).

That sparked an idea that turned into our just released, hot-of-the-press time of life financial education series we’re offering to mid-sized banks. It’s a perfect way for banks to offer tailored information to specific age groups to help them meet their time-of-life-financial needs.

The Financial LifeTimes series offers helpful tips and financial guidance for those in their teens through their 60s. We offer banks the opportunity to customize the booklets with their logo to use as rack brochures, new account kits, as an offer and a sales tool. The program comes complete with a leaders guide to help effectively engage the front line sales team. Click here offers for more information.

Birthdays – The SMCO Way

Birthdays at Sherri May & Company used to be nice but fairly standard. We would enjoy a fruit plate in the morning (in lieu of cake and the sugar crash that quickly follows), we would sing happy birthday (and try to stay in key), then it would be business as usual. But not anymore. Over the course of the year, we have strived to outdo ourselves again and again to ensure our coworker’s birthdays are a day to remember.

Though every birthday this year has been special in its own way, here are our top 5 celebrations to date:

5. The TP Streamers. We have our Production Manager, Angi, to thank for changing how we decorate for birthdays, and it happened by accident. We ran out of streamers and were forced to get creative. Several rolls of toilet paper later, and she had a festive office space decorated with lovely white “streamers.”

4. The Fanny Pack Party. I have to admit, I’ve always had a love for fanny packs. Yes, they’re clunky and awkward but for whatever reason they make me smile. My coworkers realized this and planned a surprise fanny pack decorating party in my honor, and it ended up being a party I won’t soon forget.

3. Say Cheese. If you know Aleta, you probably know about her love for all things cheesy. She is a member of the SMCO Cheese Club, and I can say with confidence there are very few who have a passion for frommage like her. So of course her birthday reflected this. With a large banner that said “Say Cheese” and snacks that included her top five favorite cheeses, we’re pretty sure her birthday was a dream come true for any cheese-head.

2. Viva Italia. Our Art Director, Jen, also received a fantastic birthday party. We paid homage to her Italian heritage and food in general. Cannolis, Italian cakes, bruschetta, and cheese were all in attendance as well as donuts, muffins, coffee and more. That was the day we not only celebrated Jen’s birthday … we also celebrated pants with a stretchy waistband.

1. Napoleon Dynamite. For Sherri May’s birthday, we truly outdid ourselves. In this case, the video speaks louder than words. Enjoy!
